More Information
This project establishes a comprehensive, multi-faceted protocol for the study of ancient Egyptian animal mummies, including species such as cats, dogs, crocodiles, and birds. It integrates advanced documentation techniques, combining 2D methods (photography, Illustrator, AutoCAD) for damage mapping with 3D modeling using AGI Soft MetaShape. Scientific analysis is central to the investigation: microscopic examination reveals textile layers, while FTIR and SEM-EDX are employed to identify the chemical composition of embalming agents, resins, and pigments. Furthermore, the project pioneers the application of environmentally sustainable, green materials for the cleaning and restoration of these fragile artifacts.
